The Department of English Linguistics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, places strong emphasis on learning beyond the classroom. As part of its commitment to experiential learning, the Department organizes educational visits, study tours, field activities, and academic excursions that provide students with opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world contexts. These activities broaden students’ perspectives, promote social and cultural awareness, and encourage meaningful interaction with educational, professional, historical, and community institutions.
During 2025–2026, the Department arranged a diverse range of visits and educational activities, taking students beyond the conventional classroom environment. These included a visit to Bahawalpur Garrison, an educational visit to Innovista Cholistan, participation in Independence Day Celebrations, a visit to Khairpur Tameali, an educational visit to the Cholistan School of Special Education, Bahawalpur, and an academic visit focusing on Public Sector Educational Reforms in South Punjab. Each activity was designed to expose students to different dimensions of society, education, culture, institutions, and professional life.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Through such initiatives, the Department seeks to cultivate curiosity, confidence, communication skills, cultural understanding, social responsibility, and a broader appreciation of the role of language and education in society. Study tours are therefore an integral part of the Department’s student-centred approach, complementing academic instruction with meaningful experiences beyond the university campus.
